Studio Friday { golden yellow }

Friday, October 7th, 2005

Golden yellow. An uplifting, cheery color, yet not a color that I choose often when given a choice. A few golden yellow odds and ends in my studio: Acrylic paints. Colored pencil. Marker. Ruler/Alphabet Stencil that I’ve had since I was a kid. Art projects in progress. And half of one wall in the room is painted golden yellow. Keep your sunnyside up!

Studio Friday { the most unusual thing }

The most unusual item in my studio: a medicine cabinet. However, you won’t find anything intended to be used for medicinal purposes in this cabinet, unless of course you count a few art supplies such as inks and glitter as valid treatment in art therapy?

The cabinet was a steal of a deal found on eBay a few years ago. I keep tossing around the idea of painting it a fun color, but I really like the look of the old, distressed paint and I fear too drastic of a makeover will cause it to lose it’s vintage appeal. The door has a mirror on it, but I always keep it covered as I would much rather look at inspiring and artsy tidbits than myself. :D

Studio Friday { finger painting }

playtime

Sometimes it’s nice to get back to basics. Paper + paint + no tools = messy fingers and lots of fun. I cut a square piece from a paper towel, then I applied light blue and lime green paints with my fingers, adding a bit of water now and then to help blend the colors. I am just loving these colors together.

I used this painted towel in a collage I created tonight. Check it out in my next post.
