Joy is inevitable.

happy
As usual, lots to be smiling about in my life:

My youngest daughter’s new friend, Paper. Not sure if I heard her right, I asked ‘Paper? Are you sure that’s her name?’ She gave an enthusiastic nod. The next day she came home to explain that her friend’s name wasn’t Paper after all… it’s Paige. (Get it? Paper… page… Paige?) :)

Listening to Meiko. Especially loving How Lucky We Are.

While I was making dinner, my daughter comes in and says, ‘Oh, I almost forgot!’ Joy...She reaches down into the side of her sock and pulls out a small, pretty stone. ‘It’s for you, Mom. I found it during recess and knew you would love it.’ Aww, bless her soul, the sweet dear carried a rock in her sock all day just for me… :)

Blog Action Day. A great concept. Won’t you consider joining in?

In a recent note from The Universe, this single line resonated with me so much that I have adopted it as my new mantra: “Joy remains life’s only inevitable.” I love that perspective.

enjoy every moment.

the purpose of life

Upon awakening this morning, I was greeted by this wise, little teabag which inspired me to approach the day with the intention to enjoy the many, many moments offered up to me today.

Friday I’m In Love… with my art journal again

This week… feeling the love at the beach

♥ Good music. Listening to The All Dave Matthews radio station almost nonstop this week. DMB always puts me in a good mood and brings back so many memories of college.

♥ Evenings on the back porch, sitting on the swing next to my husband, a glass of wine in my hand as we listen to an orchestra of insects, a nearby bird, and gentle night breezes.

♥ Fruit smoothies. Yum. Based on a recipe I stumbled upon a few years ago (frozen berries, pomegranate green tea, greek yogurt, ground flaxseed and turbinado sugar), it’s been my favorite way to get my day started this week.

♥ Girl talk at the coffee shop and treasure hunting at the beach with Misty and the oh so lovely Kateri.

♥ Eureka for eupnea; my child’s breath easy and relaxed, unlabored. Finally. So easy to take it for granted. I am grateful for her every breath.

♥ Studio time, easing myself back into creativity mode after a creative slump. A bit of art journaling always seems to help zap me out of a block.

Winds of Change

Winds of Change
staggering between the paradox of
the safe haven of comfort and constancy just behind me
and the edge of the deep abyss of uncertainty just ahead.

i can feel the winds of change,
a mere breeze against my cheek now,
a potential storm in the making.

i choke on the truths rising up from my soul
and taste the bittersweet possibility emerging
from once abandoned hopes and dreams.
