Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

I feel like I have been stagnant in so many areas of my life lately, so I decided to give myself a much needed push to get the momentum going again.

According to the experts, it takes a minimum of 21 days to change a habit, so, inspired by the recent 21 Day Challenge initiated by Rhonna Farrer, I have committed myself to nurturing my body and soul by making it a priority to exercise and create art every single day for three weeks.

My goal is to break a sweat and spend some time in the studio even on the difficult I’m-not-in-the-mood days.

Today is actually Day Three, and so far, so good…

Day One

The art journal page above was also inspired by the current Abstract Art challenge at the new Inspire Me Thursday site.

I’ve always loved the idea of journalling but never got round to doing my own until your IMT challenge so thanks! I love your journal pages, they always seem to be done with a lot of warmth and feeling. Very inspirational!

Yayyyyy! Melanie! I LOVE the word metamorphosis! It’s like transform and that is exactly what I am trying to do but it is very, very hard for me since I have thryroid woes, I know that must be spelled wrong! but I think I will write in BIG letters, Metamorphosis and look at it every day!!! I have to exercise and I’d love to get that book Teesha talks about on her Blog about water! I want to get in the habit of drinking more! and shaking my booty! LOL Good Luck! Melanie! Sweet art! xo, Cinda

    Melanie-

What a lovely journal! I am so envious of your mastery over simplicity and your beautiful handwriting! As for your goal - I just started 2 days ago exercising some every day… just hope I can keep motivated. It’s so easy to fall off the bandwagon. maybe your commitment will keep me going!

    Hugs-

    Deb

    loving the pages…
    especially the textures,
    the rough looking edges,
    and the colors…

I really like your use of color to create an overall theme for your pages. I also like that your Day One pages are green…a new start, rebirth, and so on. Your goals are worthy…in fact, I’ve been thinking that I need to structure my habits and that journaling would be an excellent way to make the process wonderful rather than punitive! Your journal has such a great worn look…I like the little pieces of fiber that hang from your collaged fabric. Good luck with your goals:>

    I love this.

You go girl!! Those are two wonderful goals and I wish you much success. Your journal pages are beautiful, I love the colors you combined - even with the bold colors that have an air of softness.
I look forward to seeing your art-a-day :-)

Really enjoyed the rich textures and subtle colors

  13. Sarah Scott Says:

Beautiful colors choices! I love the worn and aged feel to this! The green pages remind me of green tea bags, which work so well for your wellness theme!

  14. krista Says:

Oh, I love the green and the tree pose person. It’s beautiful! I started the 21 day challenge on the last round. I think I made it to day 10 and just suddenly stopped. I have no idea why.

(unrelated to your post, did you design your site here? It is a great design- I’d love to ask you a few questions about it, if you did do it yourself)

  15. ARVINDH Says:

Very beautiful work! Loved the metamorphosis theme well. I also learnt about habit changing (i need that badly to deal with my work!)

  16. Hanna Says:

the pages are so beautiful, I wish I could paint backgrounds as beautiful. how do you do them? Love turqouise, and the green one too! will visit new site of Thursday now. Love your tutorials but haven’t had the time to participate yet.

These are lovely journal pages, and such a powerful expression of your experience. I can very much relate to being in transition, experiencing a metamorphosis, and needing to find ways to push through periods of stagnation. Although there is a simplicity in these pages, there is also a richness and depth that I truly admire.

I’ve enjoyed Inspire Me Thursday, although I haven’t participated every week, and appreciate the dedication and energy you and Misty have invested to put it out there!
