SPT | i am a daughter. i am a mother.

daughter | mother

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. Washington Irving

I am a daughter. My mother’s daughter. For much of my life I have always thought of my mother and I as being so different, but as I get older I realize we really do have much in common. I feel blessed and honored to call her one of my best friends. Her opinion means so much to me, and she has often been the gentle strength that has kept me going through many difficult times. I thank her for who she is, for what she has taught me, and, most of all, for her love and support that has never wavered or diminished throughout the years.

Discovering that with every child, your heart grows bigger and stronger, that there is no limit to how much or how many people you can love, even though at times you feel as though you could burst, you don’t — you just love even more. Yasmin Le Bon

I am a mother. A mother of two beautiful, amazing daughters. They fill my life with light, my heart with love, and, yes, my hair with a few grey hairs! Motherhood is quite a ride; never have I had such an experience that weaved and meshed such strong emotions together — love, fear, hope, trust, frustration, sympathy, joy, anger, bliss. What makes it all worth it are those precious little moments — a tiny voice whispering ‘I love you, Mom’… a small hand enveloped in my own hand… the smile on their faces and the knowing that I helped put them there — it’s those little gems of time that make being a mother the most worthwhile, rewarding journey of them all.

I hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I awoke to flowers, gifts, fresh bagels from the bakery and lots of love and hugs from my little ones! A wonderful day!
