Inspire Me Thursday: Senseless Art
Oops. I have had this done for a few days, but I forgot to post it. Too much on my mind this week, I suppose.
So the challenge this week at Inspire Me Thursday was senseless art. A challenge indeed. The biggest obstacles I have when creating art is my pesky inner critic and getting distracted by email, laundry, bills. So I made a conscience effort to block all that out.
I got out my journal, closed my eyes and grabbed two tubes of paint for the background color — lime green and light blue. Eek, nice choice, Mel. Next I closed my eyes and did a quick sketch. Opened eyes, gasped, and added some lines and erased a few others. Hush, inner critic, hush. Then I added some color with artist’s crayons. Stamped a few images. I covered my eyes and randomly pulled a quote from my collection:
Focus more on your desire than on your doubt, and the dream will take care of itself. You may be surprised at how easily this happens. Your doubts are not as powerful as your desires, unless you make them so.
Wow, could it be any more appropriate to this challenge?!? I typed it up and added it to the page. Declared it done before I could convince myself otherwise.
I find it interesting that I worked fast to create this page. Faster than I normally work. I guess I was trying to outrun my inner critic!

What talent! Your drawings are fantastic! I could not do something like that with my glasses on, focusing fully 100%….let alone with my eyes closed!
Keep up the excellent work! Inner critic is a real “pita”……go away!

I think that this is my favorite of yours–the colors are gorgeous and the drawing is so pretty. Continue to boot that critic out of the car and continue on your liberating ride!

That inner critic is on roller skates. Congratulations for silencing it for seconds at a time. That’s all you need to create masterpiece. I love the quote - I will adopt it today. There - it’s mine. I really love your art!
