Inspire Me Thursday: 5 Senses

Simplify
mixed media collage, 3.5×6
See… art supplies scattered before me, a view of outside — leaves and twigs rustling on the ground, a closed studio door. Touch… the feel of paint on my fingers, the texture of the background. Smell… the mustiness of the vintage music sheet, the smell of the paint, the aroma of coffee. Hear… the rough sound of the sandpaper against the wood, the whirring noise of my heat gun as it helps quicken the drying time of the wet paper and paint, Cyndi blaring from the speakers. Taste… the coffee used to stain the vintage paper (I poured myself a separate cup to enjoy while I created my collage).
This week’s Inspire Me Thursday challenge is to get your five senses involved in your creative process. Check out how this collage was created, then go get your sensory groove on and join us!

thank you for stopping by…i admire your work, your ability to paint with paper, foresee your layers and work in a 3 dimensional way. I think dying the music sheet in coffee was terrific.
I really enjoy your submission for illo friday. Dragon flies are so delicate, and the red of the body is striking. It is simple and yet very detailed.

I love tea/coffee staining things. I use this technique on my curtains or linen I find that is “too white” looking. It gives off a very vintage warm worn look. Great job as usual!

Just beautiful! I love it :) I love the shade of green you have used, it is gorgeous - and i don’t normally like green much! (I think it’s because my old school uniform was green - at least that’s what i blame it on!)
