Studio Friday { practice makes perfect }
One of my goals this year is to get better acquainted with my sewing machine so I have been on the lookout for projects geared toward the beginner seamstress. When Santa brought my daughters each a new doll for Christmas, I decided making some tailor-made clothing for the dolls would be good sewing practice (in addition to further establishing my super mom status).

Here is my first successful attempt. A fleece poncho and a matching cotton skirt and handbag. The poncho was super quick to make, and the skirt was surprisingly easy as well (but I must say I couldn’t have done it without a lesson from my mom on how to read a sewing pattern!). The handbag was just a quick accessory I conjured up in my mind.

I also made a pair of pants, shown below, but I did a terrible job cutting out the pattern from the tie-dye fabric, hence the reason one pant leg is orange and the other pant leg is pink. Oops. But since my daughter doesn’t seem to mind, I have started working on a matching top. Practice makes perfect!

I think you’ve done a great job. I’ve had a few not so good experiences with my sewing machine - so I guess I need to practice too.
