Self Portrait Tuesday {color my world}
Have you ever noticed how there are certain color trends, or guidelines, in our society that often govern the choices we make in our life? Why isn’t it generally acceptable to spice things up and have a bit more variety? There is a part of me that wonders how much happier the world would be if there were more pink cars, orange houses and purple hair.

love the hair. did you dye it or is it a wig…
i have always wanted some pink in my hair! but
i just use funky colors on my walls.
orange dining room
retro kitchen
grass green foyer
i love my house, cause few others in this town
are daring enough to do it.
i think we could do lots of damage together!

One of the things I love about some of the Caribbean islands is the way so many people paint their houses in easter egg colors. And I’ve always wished that the grass would turn red and orange and yellow in the autumn, just like the leaves. Great take on the theme!

I love these photos. So bright and cheery, I’m all for pink cars and purple hair too.

Oh, yah. Totally agree! The pictures are wonderful. I like the two together, the quieter one in the mirror and the laughter and movement in the previous.

The purple is great, but that ORANGE knocks my socks off. Beautiful. I think you could pull that hair off in your daily life. No doubt.

You’re gorgeous, Melanie. I especially love the second, almost a little coy picture…and I know what you mean about socially acceptable colors–it’s pretty much true for every area of our lives.. food comes to mind: why don’t more people know about purple potatos, orange tomatoes or yellow watermelon? We get stuck in safe choices, and then gradually narrow our perception of the world until all we see are those safe things. Ah, I’m babbling, but your post inspired me so! As usual. :)

Great photos - love the purple hair! I understand where you are coming from as I’ve always wanted either a pink or turqoise house with purple trims - I’m not doing a good job of convincing my partner that our home should have this as its external colour scheme though. But, I’ll win eventually!
