work in progress

The past week I spent some time experimenting with DJ Pettitt’s liquid clay transfer technique, as seen in the winter 2005 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. Shown here are some of my first attempts at these transfers, using some of the black and white photocopied images DJ provides in the TLS Transfer and Tri-Fold Book Kit she is offering for purchase at her site. It was a bit challenging to get a successful transfer at first, but I think I am starting to get the hang of it now after a few attempts. Essentially, the technique results in an image transferred onto a thin piece of translucent clay that can then be colored with a variety of mediums. I just love the outcome, and I am excited to try it with some of my own images now. I can think of many, many possibilities for these transfers!

This looks fabulous! I’ve been thinking about ordering the kit, too. Are you happy with it and all the contents? I just LOVE all of her work.
