Alliance

Ally, art journal page, 11 July 2005.
Acrylic paints, oil pastels, stamps.

My mother and I have a wonderful relationship. I gave her one hell of a time during my teenage years, but fortunately we got through those tough years and ended up becoming very close friends. She is my closest ally, my most trusted confidante, one of my most respected and beloved friends. I admire her strength, her sacrifices and her accomplishments.

These photos were recently taken at her house during a spontanteous moment of silliness. It is always great spending time with her, especially when we allow ourselves to slow down long enough for us to truly enjoy and fully exist in moments such as this one.

Great pages, Melanie! Love that the black background really lets the pastels take center stage…plus the photos are so fun!

I have to admit, I’ve been stalking your blog waiting to see some pages… :)

I have been enjoying all of the wonderful creations on your blog. You are a very talented artist. I particularly love your art journal pages. I see that you list acrylic paints and pastels, but I am amazed by the deep and vibrant colors you achieve. Do you apply the paint with a sponge or a brush?

Thanks for all of the inspiration!
