In Another’s Shoes

Friday, January 28th, 2005

Occasionally I find myself taking a step back from everyday life to step into another’s shoes. Sometimes looking at things from someone else’s view helps me understand his actions or choices. It may even help turn negative emotions into something more positive, like turning anger into compassion. And then there are times when it’s just fun to imagine a totally different life. What if I had famous parents? What if I was born in Las Vegas or Seattle or Miami? What if I had stayed in school and gotten my degree? What would life be like for me then? It can be the start of a great daydream, but it can also be a great exercise in soul searching, too, as sometimes some of those ‘what if’s can help define one’s goals and dreams.

Peeling Paint

The results are so interesting. I did two layers of peeling paint; the first layer using ivory acrylic paint and the second layer using an italian sage green glaze.
