inspiring

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

I just spent more time than I care to admit browsing through all the pages of inspiration and amazing artwork at art-e-zine.co.uk. I’ll have to go back when I have even more time to be inspired.

I do want to make note of a few techniques that caught my eye and that I would like to try someday:

Experience

A story is told that Picasso, at the age of 72, was approached by a woman who wished to buy a sketch from him. He told her the price, well in the Picasso range, and she blanched and asked him how long it could possibly have taken him to paint those few lines. His answer: “Seventy-two years.”

More Domino Art

Sunday, September 26th, 2004

I just finished my second batch of dominoes. For the domino shown here, I used the angel collage stamp from Stamper’s Anonymous, colored with Sharpies and Andirondack markers, and edged with a gold leaf pen. More dominoes can be seen here in the 2Peas gallery.

Dominoes

Saturday, September 25th, 2004

Here it is, my first attempt at dominoes!

I began by experimenting on a mini domino that I messed up drilling (see the hole in the first domino, just below the Y). I stamped the butterfly (The Angel Company) with black StazOn, then colored the domino bg with Ranger alcohol inks and colored the butterfly with sharpies and acrylic paints. Then I stamped ’serenity’ (Leave Memories) with black StazOn.

I ended up liking how it looked, so I decided to try it again on a better drilled domino, and then again using a variation of color and stamped word, ‘peace’ (Leave Memories).

It was challenging to work on such a tiny area, but I really enjoyed it! I would like to make these into necklaces or bracelets (still working on how to accomplish that!)
